Taxonomy
The holotype of Sameodes pictalis Swinhoe, 1896: 303 is from India (Cherrapunjee). Its generic placement is in doubt (See Munroe (1955) who discusses the genus). It could possibly be considered in the Genus Eusabena revived by Shaffer et al. 1996.

Description
Wing length: 17mm. A distinctive large showy sp. in orange, pinks and brown marked by several white spots. The specimen figured is larger than most specimens of the series in the BMNH which range from 26 to 38mm in wingspan. The holotype is 27mm.

Distribution & Habitat
India (Meghalaya), Thailand, W. Malaysia, Sabah, Sumatra. Lowland, hill & lower montane primary forest; <1500m.
