  • Taxonomy


    The holotype of Sisyrophora pfeifferae Lederer 1863: 399, pl. 13 fig. 13 is from Singapore. Comb. n. to Cydalima Lederer 1863. (Mally & Nuss, 2010).


       Syn. Cydalima elwesialis Snellen, 1890:  Syn. n. (Swinhoe 1916b: 221). TL Sikkim. The lectotype is in the BMNH;


       syn. Cydalmia [sic] elwesialis, Snellen, 1890b: 607, pl. xix figs. 1, 1a. Syn. n. (Swinhoe 1916b: 221).


       syn. Glyphodes pfeifferae var. elwesialis, Kenrick, 1912: 554, pl. LXVIII, fig. 21. Syn. n. (Swinhoe 1916b: 221).

  • Description


    Wing length: 16mm. The wings are translucent shining white with a purple-brown shading at the termen where there is a narrow broken metallic line. The broad subcosta of the FW is a dark chocolate brown with two dark spots in the cell. The HW has a small lunate spot in its cell. The abdomen is white scaled as is the thorax which has long tegulae. The head and neck are are dark brown. The males have a conspicuous dark brown hair pencil near the thorax and blackish anal hair pencils. The forelegs are brown with white tarsi. The antenna of the male is modified near its base with a short ascending hook bearing a pad of tiny bristles. (RTS: p. 187; #616).

    India (Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Niccobar Is., Andaman Is.), Burma, W. Malaysia, Singapore, Sabah, Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Bali, Irian Java) Philippines, PNG, Australia (NT,Q), Taiwan. Lowland to submontane primary forest including canopy; <1100m.
